Trump pushes for mine clearance in the Strait of Hormuz - what this means for aid to Ukraine.
Trump exerts pressure on international partners
According to TSN.ua: US President Donald Trump is personally pressuring leading state leaders to gain support for mine clearance in the Strait of Hormuz. This has direct implications for aid to Ukraine. Trump is trying to persuade foreign partners to cooperate - although some countries have already officially declined. This development demonstrates how interconnected geopolitical crises are: securing one of the world's most important shipping routes simultaneously influences military and financial support for Kyiv.
French President Emmanuel Macron received a rating of 8 from Trump on his personal friendship scale. Trump literally stated:
"I spoke with him. On a scale from 0 to 10, I would rate him an 8. Not perfect. But that's France. We expect no perfect outcome. I think he will help."At the same time, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior of other states, particularly the United Kingdom.
"I was unhappy with the United Kingdom. We defended these countries together with NATO for years. I said: You don't want to do that, but we were by your side... We are working with them on Ukraine."- said Trump.
The situation on the international stage
The international political situation is complicated by the refusal of several countries: China, Japan, South Korea, and Australia are withholding support. The European Union is also showing little willingness to actively engage in the conflict. Estonia's Prime Minister Kaja Kallas noted:
"The member states had no desire to do this. No one wants to actively participate in this war. Everyone is concerned about the outcome."
In this context, the oil price has risen to over $100 per barrel - a clear sign of growing tension in global markets. Trump continues to seek allies among state leaders, hoping that this will influence the situation in Ukraine and mitigate the economic consequences for the US and its partners.
These developments highlight the complexity of international relations, where geopolitical self-interests often do not align. The fact that key actors in the international community deny aid to Ukraine shows how delicate the issue of support remains in times of crisis. The rise in oil prices could have serious economic consequences for many countries, which in turn is likely to influence the future policies of the US and its allies in the region.
