Parliamentary Commission Holds Session on Defense Investigation

According to Novyny.live: A session of the Ukrainian Parliament's Temporary Investigative Commission, which is examining potential violations in defense and anti-corruption legislation, was held on January 21. However, two key invited individuals did not attend the meeting. The absentees were:

  • Ihor Kolomoiskyi
  • Filip Pronin

Ihor Kolomoiskyi was unable to attend due to procedural actions being taken by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). As for Filip Pronin, his absence was due to being on sick leave. Commenting on Pronin's non-attendance, Oleksii Honcharenko noted that he had recently opened a sick leave, receiving treatment from January 12 to 16. The emergence of a new sick leave on the day of the session, January 21, was unexpected, as Pronin had been healthy from the 17th to the 20th. This commission is a significant body in Ukraine's ongoing efforts to ensure accountability in its defense sector, especially during the ongoing war.

Next Steps for the Commission

Tymofii Mylovanov was also invited to the session, though his presence was not discussed in the context of the other absences. The next session of the commission is scheduled for February 3. The previous meeting took place on January 15, where issues likely to be carried forward were discussed.

The absence of these key figures could hinder the effectiveness of the investigation and the discussion of critical matters related to potential defense and anti-corruption violations. The upcoming February 3rd meeting will therefore be crucial for advancing the commission's work and uncovering the facts in these important inquiries.
