Pythons were found in the woods near Brovary: Why you should not release exotic animals.
According to inkorr.com: During a patrol in the woods near Brovary, officials came across a large python lying under fallen leaves. The snake showed no aggression but appeared weak. This was reported by the , which arrived at the scene and took the animal with them.
Veterinarians confirmed after examination that the python is still alive and needs medical treatment. Currently, he is being monitored by professionals.
Reasons for finding the python
The rescuers suspect that this python was previously a pet. When it grew and no longer fit in the terrarium, it was probably simply released into the wild.
Danger of releasing exotic animals
Experts from the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group emphasize that such actions are not only cruel but also dangerous for humans. Releasing exotic animals into the wild is strictly prohibited, as they are not adapted to the local climate and can die from cold, hunger, or stress.
Recommendations for exotic animal owners
Professionals remind exotic animal owners of some important rules:
- do not release the animal into the wild, even not “to freedom”;
- if it is impossible to keep it, contact shelters or animal protection organizations;
- do not buy reptiles without the appropriate experience and knowledge about their care.
“If the owner can no longer take care of their pet, they should contact specialized services or shelters. We are always ready to take in such animals and provide them with appropriate conditions,” they explained at the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group.
Animal experts are already looking for a safe place for the python, such as in a zoo or terrarium, where it can live comfortably and pose no danger to others.
This situation again highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership, especially with exotic ones. Releasing such animals into the wild can have serious consequences for both them and the ecosystem. Owners should be aware of their needs and look for suitable solutions when they need to part with their beloved pet.
