Russia has lifted the moratorium on INF: is this really a new threat to Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the termination of the moratorium on the deployment of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF) on land. However, experts at the Center for Counteracting Disinformation believe that this is only a formality, as the missiles had already been deployed in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Recall that the dictator of Russia, Putin, stated the beginning of the serial production of the ballistic missile 'Oreshnik', which has already been handed over for use by the Russian occupiers' army.
What is the falsehood of Russia's statement about INF
In its announcement, the Russian agency explains this decision by the 'build-up' of INF by the countries of 'collective West', which, in their opinion, are deploying these missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The Russian leadership claims that specific countermeasures will be defined after an 'interdepartmental analysis' of the scale of deployment of American and other Western INF on land and the overall situation in the field of international security and strategic stability.
It should be noted that the Russian missiles have been prepared since 2019 in Crimea, after Donald Trump withdrew from the INF Treaty due to violations by Russia. Expert from the Center for Counteracting Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko noted that the restoration of these missiles is merely a propaganda move that will not change the balance of power but will allow Moscow to continue intimidating with the 'Oreshnik' in Belarus.
It is worth noting that the Russian Foreign Ministry has lifted the moratorium on INF on land, but in reality, the missiles had already been deployed in the occupied territory of Crimea since 2019. This indicates the untruthfulness of the Russian Federation's statement on this issue. Experts believe that this is only a propaganda move and not a real threat to security and stability.
