The USA and Ukraine Excluded NATO Issues from the Peace Plan: Details.
According to ТСН: The United States and Ukraine have excluded all points related to the European Union and NATO from the peace plan.
President of the European Council António Costa shared this in a comment for the publication Handelsblatt.
He noted that the United States guaranteed that during negotiations with Russia regarding peace in Ukraine, they would not raise issues related to the EU or NATO without the participation of Europeans.
“The United States and Ukrainians have developed a new working document. This new plan excludes all points related to the European Union. Everything concerning NATO has also been excluded,”
– recounted a European official.
Regarding the possible transfer of Ukrainian territories to Russia, Costa emphasized that if the international community allows a major state to forcefully change the borders of another country, it would create “a very dangerous precedent for the world.”
It should be noted that during negotiations on November 23 in Geneva between delegations from Ukraine, the USA, and European countries, 28 points concerning the cessation of the war were discussed. In Washington, it was reported that as a result of the discussions, 'the parties developed an updated and improved peace framework agreement.'
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that after the negotiations, there were certain changes in the previous 'peace plan.' According to him, the final document, which will serve as the basis for a possible peace process, has been significantly revised.
Furthermore, Moscow reported that they received the 'parameters' of the peace plan from Geneva. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that 'nuances' regarding the 'international recognition of decisions on the Ukrainian settlement' would be agreed upon during negotiations.
Currently, the situation surrounding the negotiations continues to remain in the spotlight of the international community. Exclusion of EU and NATO issues from the peace process may indicate that countries seek to focus on immediate security concerns for Ukraine. This raises concerns that allowing Russia to change borders could lead to new conflicts in the region. Experts and diplomats are monitoring the developments, trying to assess potential consequences for stability in Ukraine and beyond.
