Barro on the threat from Russia: Europe must strengthen its forces for peace.
According to ТСН: French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barro expressed his opinion on the alarming predictions of European military agencies regarding a possible large conflict with Russia. He urged European countries to adopt a realistic approach and strengthen military power to deter the aggressor.
Minister's comments on the situation in Europe
Barro responded to questions about whether there are grounds to believe that Russia may attack NATO countries. He noted that war has already returned to the European continent, and the main task today is to restore lasting peace.
“To achieve this, we need to take into account the changes occurring in the world and Russia's large-scale rearmament. Our ability to eliminate the threat depends on our internal, military, and moral strength. Let us be realistic and recognize that peace now has its price,” he said.
The situation at the front and peace agreements
The minister also believes that Russian President has serious reasons to consider the peace document revised by Ukraine and allies during negotiations in Geneva. He noted that despite Russia's propagandistic statements, it has not achieved significant success at the front.
“The millimeter advancement of the Russian army in eastern Ukraine comes at the cost of colossal human losses: more than 1000 Russian soldiers die daily at the front,” added the French minister.
Moreover, analysts have previously reported that Russia is actively conducting a hybrid war against European Union countries, using asymmetric methods. There is a likelihood that direct aggression could begin without warning.
In the given text, Minister Jean-Noël Barro emphasizes the need for European countries to adapt to the realities of modern threats. His comments highlight the importance of maintaining peace and a realistic assessment of the situation at the front. The timeline of events in Ukraine and the heightened military situation in the region require action not only on the diplomatic front but also on the military front. As the minister stated, European countries should be prepared for new security challenges.Read also
