Trams and Trolleybuses to Halt in Kharkiv on June 12: What You Need to Know About Public Transit Changes.
Public Transport Adjustments in Kharkiv
According to Novyny.live: On June 12, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, tram and trolleybus services will be suspended on several streets in Kharkiv due to maintenance work by the energy provider. JSC 'Kharkivoblenergo' is carrying out repairs on the power grid, which necessitates these temporary restrictions on public transportation.
Tram operations will be affected as no trams will run on Byron Avenue and Morozova Street, specifically along the stretch from the 'Odeska Street' turnaround loop to Mukhachova Street. Trams No. 5 and No. 8 will be rerouted, terminating at the 'Mukhachova Street' turnaround loop instead.
As for trolleybuses, service will be suspended on the following streets:
- Pavlo Tychyna Street
- Depovska Street
- Pivdennoproektna Street
Trolleybus No. 6 will operate on a shortened route, running from the 'Universytetska Street' turnaround loop to the 'Park Zustrich' turnaround loop.
To accommodate these changes, a temporary bus route will be introduced, running from the 'Odeska Street' turnaround loop to Mukhachova Street via Byron Avenue and Morozova Street. Residents of Kharkiv can use public transport free of charge, which may help ease travel during this period.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov noted: 'The transport system serves as a civil defense function.'
Therefore, Kharkiv residents should factor these changes into their plans for June 12 and consider alternative routes.
These public transport adjustments in Kharkiv highlight the need to adapt infrastructure to accommodate technical work, which is crucial for maintaining the stability of the energy grid. They also reflect ongoing efforts by city services to improve the quality of public transit, especially important given current challenges. Residents must stay informed about these changes to avoid inconveniences while moving around the city.
