The Minister of Finance of Canada calls on Russia to compensate Ukraine for the damage from the Russian war.
Chrystia Freeland, the Minister of Finance of Canada, stated that Russia must pay compensation for the damage that Ukraine has suffered as a result of Russian aggression. She made this statement following the agreement of the "Group of Seven" countries to provide Ukraine with a loan of 50 billion dollars from frozen Russian assets.
"Canada's firm stance has always been and remains that the aggressor must bear responsibility for the destruction caused. Democracies and their citizens, as well as the brave Ukrainians, cannot bear the financial burden of Russian aggression," said Freeland.
She called the decision of the "Group of Seven" on the loan to Ukraine "historic", as it ensures the use of frozen funds from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to support the Ukrainian people.
