Massive attack by the Russian Federation: over 500 thousand consumers without electricity in Kyiv and the region.
According to ТСН: Today, more than 500 thousand consumers have been left without electricity in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
According to Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov, Russian shelling has damaged substations, overhead power lines, and individual generation facilities. This has led to emergency power outages.
«As of 15:00, over 500 thousand consumers have been disconnected in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Also, due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, consumers in other regions are also without power,» the acting minister reported.
In particular, more than 22 thousand subscribers remain without electricity in Chernihiv region.
Energy system resilience
However, Nekrasov assured that the united energy system of Ukraine remains intact and continues to function. Electricity imports and consumption restrictions are used to maintain balance.
«Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore light and heat in Ukrainian homes as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, constant air alarms hinder recovery work,» he added.
Attack on infrastructure
Today, the Russian army delivered a combined strike on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, using ten 'Dagger' missiles, half a thousand drones, and dozens of rockets.
As a result of this attack, one person was killed in the capital, and another 28 were injured.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that if the Russian Federation arranges a blackout in Kyiv, it will receive a blackout in Moscow in response.
This situation highlights the critical state of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which continues to suffer attacks during the active war. Authorities are trying to respond to challenges and ensure energy supply for the population, even amidst a constant threat from the enemy. With each passing day, it becomes clear that restoring stable energy supply requires not only technical efforts but also the resilience of society in the face of wartime challenges.
