Three Die from Flu Complications in Kyiv Over the Past Week: What You Need to Know.
Flu Epidemic in Kyiv
According to TSN.ua: Kyiv continues to battle a flu epidemic that has claimed three lives due to complications. According to Serhii Chumak, the city's chief sanitary doctor, while flu and acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) rates are declining, the situation remains serious. Currently, 243 patients are hospitalized, including 142 children.
Fatal Cases
The fatalities recorded in the capital include:
- A 70-year-old man who died from pneumonia and heart failure.
- A 67-year-old man who also succumbed to pneumonia with complications.
- A 52-year-old man who died from flu-related complications, specifically pneumonia.
It is important to note that earlier, a 10-year-old girl died from influenza A in Kyiv.
Serhii Chumak expressed hope that the downward trend in flu cases will continue, stating:
“There is hope that the trend of declining flu incidence will strengthen.” – Serhii Chumak
He also emphasized that all three patients shared a common cause of death: complications from the flu, specifically pneumonia.
As of today, the flu situation in Kyiv remains under control, but health officials urge the public to stay cautious and seek medical help at the first signs of illness.
