The suspect was arrested while receiving the final payment; the initial bribe was $2,000.
Criminal Prosecution Underway
The detained individual faces charges under Article 369-3 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code. If convicted, the penalty ranges from three to eight years in prison, along with asset forfeiture. Separately, Lyudmyla Marchenko was sentenced to two years behind bars for helping men flee the country for $11,300. Additionally, a man orchestrated the removal of a conscript from a wanted list for $6,000.
This case highlights ongoing corruption in the military draft and reservation system, raising serious concerns among the public and law enforcement. Investigations continue as authorities work to expose similar criminal activities. It is critical for society to stay informed about such cases, as they undermine both the rule of law and national security during wartime.
