New Traffic Lights Hit Kyiv Streets: What Drivers Need to Know.
Kyiv's Latest Traffic Light Innovation
According to Novyny.live: A new type of traffic light has gone live on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv, designed to improve road safety. This updated signal features a glowing border around the right-turn indicator, combining a green arrow with a red circle to give drivers clear, unambiguous instructions.
When the arrow is lit, turning right is permitted; when the red circle appears, the maneuver is prohibited. The system complies with the Ukrainian standard DSTU 4092:2024, reflecting a commitment to modern safety technology in urban infrastructure.
Phased Replacement of Old Signals
These new traffic lights with red circles will gradually appear across Kyiv. Municipal crews will swap out older equipment as it reaches the end of its service life. This rollout is expected to reduce accidents and boost overall road safety in the capital.
The introduction of these signals is part of a broader effort by city authorities to modernize road infrastructure and enhance traffic safety. Adopting updated standards not only helps lower crash rates but also improves driver awareness of traffic rules.
Replacing old traffic lights in stages demonstrates a systematic approach to tackling road safety challenges in Kyiv.
