The blogger was shot during the live broadcast
A tragedy occurred in Mexico - 23-year-old blogger Valeria Marques was shot during a live TikTok broadcast. The horrific event took place in a beauty salon in Guadalajara. A man burst in and fired a gun, reports BBC, citing the Jalisco state prosecutor's office.
The investigation is looking into the version of femicide (the killing of a woman because of her gender). The motive for the murder remains unknown.
Gender-based violence is becoming increasingly prevalent in Mexico. According to the UN, partners or family members kill 10 women or girls every day.
According to another version, the blogger's life was taken by a man who pretended to bring a gift. It is known that she had previously written on social media about a potential threat from an ex-partner. Social media is flooded with her posts following the tragic event.
Another terrible piece of news recently came from the town of Tequistitlán - a mayoral candidate was shot dead live on Facebook. There was also a car accident that resulted in at least 20 fatalities. The police are investigating all of these cases.
