We have a dangerous world': The US urged NATO allies to reconsider defense spending.

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Vitaker stated that the previously agreed defense spending level of 2% of GDP for member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance no longer meets modern security challenges.
In his interview with Fox News, Vitaker emphasized that 'European allies and Canada understand that they need to do a lot more than they have since they committed to spending 2% of their GDP on defense.'
He stressed that this is currently insufficient, as 'we have a dangerous world.'
The diplomat noted that among the main threats is Russia, which poses a danger to US European allies.
'A very big and dangerous world. We all need to take this opportunity when Donald Trump directs these alliances to be ready to respond to all these threats,' the US ambassador emphasized.
This statement comes against the backdrop of ongoing discussions about the fair distribution of defense spending among NATO members and new geopolitical challenges.
