An oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk is on fire, employees are being evacuated.
On January 11, the 'Tanevo' oil refinery in Tatarstan was victim to a fire, which was threatened by a drone attack. This is reported by Russian Telegram channels.
According to the Baza channel, one of the columns in the refinery caught fire. An air alert was also triggered, and employees were evacuated from the site.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tatarstan sent a warning to residents about the danger of a drone attack. People are urged to stay home and avoid windows.
'At Nizhnekamsk Airport, the 'Carpet' plan was activated due to the threat of drone attacks,' adds Baza.
It is worth noting that the 'Tanevo' refinery ranked fifth in the ranking of the largest oil refineries in Russia in 2022.
Additionally, it is important to mention that there has been a fire in an oil reservoir in Engels for four days following an attack by Ukrainian forces. It ignited on the night of January 8. Residents are complaining about an unpleasant smell in the city, but the Rosselkhoznadzor has not reported any negative effects.
Furthermore, drones were used against the oil reservoir of the company 'Kristall', which is a federal state institution that stores fuel for the 'Engels-2' air force base, where Russia's strategic aviation, including Tu-160 bombers, is stationed.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed that Ukrainian military struck the Russian oil reservoir in Engels, but the exact results are currently unknown.
It is reported that the destruction of the oil reservoir poses a serious threat to the logistics of the strategic aviation of the Russian occupiers and limits their ability to conduct attacks on peaceful cities and civilian facilities in Ukraine.
