A Starbucks coffee shop has opened in South Korea near the border with North Korea

In South Korea, near the border with North Korea, a Starbucks coffee shop has opened. It is located in Aegibong Park, from where there is a view of North Korea. To access the coffee shop and the observation deck, visitors must pass through a checkpoint. This was reported by BBC.

Approximately 40 people gathered for the opening of the coffee shop on November 29. The establishment has seating for 30 visitors. The distance from the coffee shop to the North Korean border is about 1.5 kilometers. The windows of Starbucks overlook the Songaksan volcano, which is located in North Korea, as well as the border village of North Korea.

The authorities of the South Korean city of Gimpo, located near the border area, stated that the opening of Starbucks in Aegibong Park is expected to attract more tourists to this area. Moreover, the presence of such a well-known 'capitalist brand' near North Korea indicates a high level of security on the Korean Peninsula.

Aegibong Park was created on a hill that became a battlefield during the Korean War of 1950-53. In addition to the observation deck, the park features a military memorial, gardens, a conference center, and an exhibition.

It was previously reported that North Korea severed power lines that South Korea had established to supply electricity to a closed joint industrial park in the city of Kaesong. With this step, the military announces a break in ties between the two Koreas.

By the way, Russians are receiving KN23 ballistic missiles from North Korea. These missiles are one of the main means of terror against civilians, and Russians use them to shell residential buildings, particularly in Kyiv, where they killed four people in January this year.
