In the coming weeks, a US missile defense base will open in Poland near the border with the Kaliningrad region of Russia.
As noted by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, from this American base, it may be possible to shoot down Russian missiles heading towards Poland, reports FREEДОМ.
"In the coming weeks, we will open a missile defense base in Redzikowo near Puck. This is the base we agreed upon with the US," said Sikorski on Radio Rebeliant.
It should be noted that the US missile defense base in Redzikowo was commissioned in July 2024. It is part of the NATO missile shield and is intended for detecting, tracking, and intercepting ballistic missiles.
The base in Redzikowo is located 165 km from the border with the Kaliningrad region of Russia. It has a radar station and three Mk-41 launchers, each equipped with eight containers for Standard Missile 3 interceptor missiles.
