US Intelligence Denies Putin's Plans for All of Ukraine: What is Known.
According to ТСН: US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard called Reuters' materials about Putin's alleged plans to seize all of Ukraine and part of Europe falsehoods and propaganda.
Gabbard shared her opinion on social media platform X, noting that the agency is spreading a false narrative aimed at blocking peace initiatives by US President Donald Trump.
“By dangerously promoting this false narrative, you are blocking President Trump's peaceful efforts and inciting hysteria and fear among people to make them support the escalation of war, which is exactly what NATO and the EU want to directly involve the US armed forces in a war with Russia,” Gabbard wrote.
She emphasized that American intelligence, based on its own data, informed politicians that Russia seeks to avoid direct military confrontation with NATO. This was also confirmed by Democratic Party member of the House Intelligence Committee Mike Quigley, as quoted by Reuters.
Moreover, Gabbard claims that according to assessments from American intelligence, Russia lacks both the resources and the capabilities to seize and occupy all of Ukraine, not to mention European countries.
Earlier reports indicated that US intelligence assessments signal that Putin does not intend to stop at Donbas, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. His goal is control over all of Ukraine, as well as a broader plan to reassert Moscow's control over territories of the former USSR.
It was also previously reported that Putin announced that the Russian Federation is ready to engage in dialogue to end the war “based on the principles laid out in June 2024”.
These statements by Gabbard have sparked discussions among politicians and analysts monitoring the situation in Ukraine and relations with Russia. The intelligence chief's opinion highlights contradictions in the perception of threats from the RF and the attitude towards peace initiatives. The further development of events in this context will remain an important aspect of international politics.
