People's deputy from the 'Servant of the People' faction Oleksii Zhmerynetskyi assured that the exit of some deputies from the faction does not endanger the existence of the monob majority in the Verkhovna Rada. Such cases occur periodically. He stated this in the broadcast of the program Day.LIVE.
What is happening in the 'Servant of the People' faction
According to the parliamentarian, talks about the collapse of the majority have been ongoing for four years, but there are currently no real grounds for this.'As long as at least eight more deputies do not leave the faction — the monob majority remains. And as of today, I do not see such preconditions,' Zhmerynetskyi noted. He also emphasized that the most active exits from the faction have already taken place during times of greatest public discontent and protests.
'All those who had the opportunity and wanted to leave have already made their choice. Such emotional outbursts happen once a year or even less often. Therefore, I believe that the faction is not in danger,' the deputy added. At the same time, he added that all deputies can independently decide whether to stay in the party or leave it.
'If against the backdrop of all these talks and criticisms, deputies really wanted to leave the monob majority, they would have done so. Currently, everything is working,' Zhmerynetskyi emphasized.Recall that People's Deputy Dmytro Kostiuk announced on July 31 his plans to leave the faction 'Servant of the People'. The reason is the voting for the bill on depriving NABU and SAP of independence. Previously, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement supported the bill on restoring the independence of NABU and SAP. During Oleksii Zhmerynetskyi's last statement, it was noted that although some deputies were planning to leave, the monob majority in the Verkhovna Rada remains intact for now, and there is no direct threat to the faction 'Servant of the People'.
