Armed attack on a nightclub in Istanbul
In the evening, an attack occurred on one of the clubs in the Kagithane district of Istanbul. Unknown individuals threw a hand grenade into the building where a large group of visitors was present.
The police reported that two unknown individuals on a motorcycle without license plates committed the attack and quickly fled the scene. Several people among the visitors suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized.
“Seven people, three of whom were seriously injured... were taken to hospitals by ambulance. The condition of the victims remains unknown,” the statement said.
Police, special units, and ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident. The motives behind the attack remain unknown, but authorities are considering all possible versions, from terrorism to ordinary crime.
This is not the first case of an attack on nightlife venues in Istanbul. Such incidents happen periodically, and each time they alarm the residents and authorities.
