Violence among youth

According to TSN.ua: On March 6, a severe confrontation among minors occurred in Zaporizhzhia. A 13-year-old girl was brutally injured and had to be hospitalized. The police identified two girls aged 13 and 15 as the alleged instigators of the act. The incident was recorded on a mobile phone, and the video was subsequently disseminated via the Telegram messenger.

The investigators have initiated a preliminary investigation under several articles of the Ukrainian Penal Code. The accused face the following sanctions according to the relevant paragraphs:

  • a fine of up to 50 tax-free minimum incomes,
  • up to 200 hours of community service, or
  • corrective labor for a period of up to one year.

Concerning violence among youth

This incident is part of a series of violent occurrences among youth. Earlier in January, the police in the Kiev region initiated investigations into animal cruelty involving a kitten. Such cases raise public concern about the behavior of minors and the consequences of their actions.

The incident in Zaporizhzhia highlights a growing societal problem: youth violence that needs to be urgently addressed.

Similar incidents in other regions of Ukraine indicate a systemic crisis that requires the attention of state authorities, educational institutions, and families. In this context, it is crucial to find effective prevention measures against violence and strengthen the social interactions of youth to prevent future offenses. The increasing dissemination of such recordings on social networks further exacerbates the psychological effects on the victims.
