Oreshnik Rocket: Russia Used New Weapon for Psychological Pressure on Europe

According to ТСН: The Russian army uses the 'Oreshnik' rocket mainly for psychological influence, designed to intimidate the population and increase informational pressure on the international community.

Military expert Ivan Timochko noted that for the enemy, the 'Oreshnik' is important precisely as a means of psychological influence. The Kremlin hopes that the demonstration of such rockets will invoke fear and uncertainty in Europe and Ukraine.

‘The strike on Lviv region is more of a psychological signal than a strategic military action. After this, Russia will launch a massive informational campaign to intimidate European partners, especially amid discussions regarding the deployment of European troops in Ukraine after potential peace agreements,’ said the expert.

Timochko also emphasized that such actions by the Kremlin are an attempt to send a clear signal to Europe regarding Russia's readiness to respond to possible military steps in Ukraine. Therefore, the purpose of launching the 'Oreshnik' rocket does not involve the specific destruction of targets.

It is also worth noting that during the massive attack on Ukraine, the Russians launched the 'Oreshnik' rocket, with the Air Forces reporting a strike on Lviv by a long-range ballistic missile from the 'Kapustin Yar' range.

Russia acknowledged the use of the 'Oreshnik' and explained it allegedly as a response to the 'attack by Ukraine on Putin's residence in Valdai,' which never actually occurred.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga believes that such a strike near the borders of the EU and NATO poses a serious threat to security on the European continent and is a test for the transatlantic community.

The situation surrounding the use of the 'Oreshnik' rocket underscores the tension in relations between Russia and Western countries. This case indicates the Kremlin's intentions to use military force as a means of influencing political discussions in Europe. Possible further steps from Ukraine and its allies will require careful monitoring of changes on the front and responding to security threats in the region.
