In Kyiv and the region, there will be no electricity for another 2-3 days: what was damaged by the shelling.
According to ТСН: The situation with electricity supply in Kyiv and the region requires at least 2-3 days for stabilization.
Complex situation in Kyiv
Member of the parliamentary committee on energy, MP Serhiy Nahornyak emphasized during a national telethon that the capital agglomeration is facing serious problems. These are caused by terrorist strikes from the Russian army, which damaged key energy facilities in the region.
“The enemy attacked both generation and the Ucontroller substation, as well as regional energy companies and smaller generation plants, including our large stations — like the Kyiv hydroelectric power station, TPP-5, and TPP-6. The enemy also attacked the Darnytsia TPP and the Tripoli TPP,” the MP listed.
Challenges of recovery
Nahornyak also noted the difficulties faced by emergency recovery teams working under constant enemy attacks. He called for support and understanding for their work:
“The situation is complicated; it will take at least several days to stabilize the situation in the Kyiv agglomeration… At least 2-3 days will be needed for energy workers to stabilize the situation in the city of Kyiv and in the satellite cities of the capital of Ukraine,” he predicted.
Ukraine's acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov added that after the Russian attack, more than 500 thousand consumers were left without power in Kyiv and the region.
Damage to infrastructure
As a result of the shelling, not only substations and overhead power lines were damaged, but also individual generation facilities. This led to emergency power outages in Kyiv and the region.
During a large-scale Russian attack, buildings in Kyiv districts were damaged, multi-story buildings and private residential houses caught fire. Cars were damaged by falling debris.
Amid constant attacks on energy infrastructure, the process of restoring electricity supply will take a long time. Despite the efforts of energy workers, the situation remains critical, and people should be prepared for possible difficulties in the coming days. However, energy workers continue to work on restoring electricity supply in the region.
