Ballistic Missile Strike on Kharkiv Kills One, Injures Ten.
Residential Building Hit in Kharkiv Missile Attack
According to TSN.ua: A ballistic missile struck a residential building in Kharkiv's Kyivskyi district, resulting in one fatality and ten injuries. The attack destroyed an entrance to a five-story apartment block and two floors of a neighboring building. Among the wounded are two boys, aged 11 and 6, and a 17-year-old girl. This strike is part of a wider pattern of intensified attacks on Ukrainian cities, which have increasingly targeted civilian infrastructure.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with up to ten people, including a child, potentially still trapped under the rubble. The body of the deceased was recovered from the debris in the Osnovianskyi district, where, according to reports, a 'Shahed'-type drone struck an industrial zone. All emergency services are working at the impact sites.
Response from Local Authorities
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed the tragedy, while Mayor Ihor Terekhov urged residents to remain vigilant given the ongoing threat.
"On the night of March 7, Russian drones were detected in the airspace of Kyiv Oblast, adding to the tension in the situation." - Oleh Syniehubov
This incident underscores the escalating military actions in Ukraine, particularly the use of missiles and drones that are causing civilian casualties. The situation in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, risks further destabilizing the regional security environment and heightens anxiety among local residents, emphasizing the critical need for emergency preparedness and support for rescue services.
