Why Ukraine's Strikes on Russian Refineries Haven't Produced Instant Front-Line Results: An Expert Explains.

Military Analyst Weighs In

According to UATV: In an interview on the FREEДОМ TV channel, military expert Serhiy Hrabsky addressed the impact of Ukrainian attacks on Russia's oil infrastructure on the battlefield. He observed that, so far, there has been no significant effect on combat operations, although the fuel shortage inside Russia does offer some advantages for Ukraine's defense forces.

Hrabsky clarified that Russian forces prioritize resource allocation, including fuel, to the front lines. Striking one or even several oil refineries does not automatically translate into an immediate shift in the fighting.

“Hitting one, two, or ten refineries—it's still too early to say that this directly affects combat operations today,” the expert noted.

The Need to Ramp Up Attacks

He further stated that to achieve a meaningful impact, the number of strikes on Russian territory must be increased by a factor of three to five.

“We need to intensify these strikes,” Hrabsky said, underscoring the importance of stepping up actions in this area.

The analyst also highlighted the mindset of Russian occupiers, pointing out that they “will take the last drop of gasoline from those in need… and give it to the army.” This indicates that even amid a fuel crisis, Russia continues to prioritize its military needs.

Hrabsky noted that there are already “early signs pointing to restrictions on logistics supplies in the southern direction,” which may result from Ukrainian operations. This suggests gradual changes in the enemy's logistical capabilities, but, according to him, Ukraine needs to intensify attacks on Russian infrastructure to achieve a significant effect.

While Ukrainian strikes on Russia's oil infrastructure have not led to immediate changes on the front lines, they could produce long-term consequences if their intensity is increased. As Russia continues to meet its military demands, the situation on the southern front may indicate a gradual weakening of the enemy's logistics. This underscores the importance of a strategic approach to conducting attacks that could influence combat operations in the future.
