The widow of the deceased soldier won a lawsuit against the Ministry of Defense: why she was denied 15 million.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied the widow of the soldier a one-time monetary assistance of 15 million hryvnias. To challenge this decision, the woman went to court.
According to the decision of the Lviv District Administrative Court, the widow must be paid government funds. The plaintiffs husband, who was a sergeant, died of a heart attack in 2023 while performing combat tasks in the east of the country. Initially, the payment was denied, believing that the death was not related to an injury.
Court decision
The judge examined the situation and established that the soldier died while defending Ukraine, and his illness was connected to his service. Therefore, the Ministry of Defense will have to compensate the widow. However, the verdict can still be contested within a month.
In conclusion, the court recognized that the soldiers death was a consequence of service, and therefore, the family has the right to appropriate assistance from the state.
