According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, the new school year began on September 1, with more than 3.5 million students participating. Over 2.3 million children returned to in-person learning, while the number of students in remote learning decreased by more than one hundred thousand compared to last year. This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Features of learning in the new year

According to the head of the parliamentary committee on education, science and innovations, Serhiy Babak, approximately 10% of Ukrainian children are studying remotely or in other forms. Among them, more than 300 thousand are abroad, and over 35 thousand are in temporarily occupied territories.

This year, about 12 thousand schools will operate in Ukraine. Of these, more than eight thousand operate in a traditional format, two and a half thousand in a mixed format, and one and a half thousand only remotely. As previously noted by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nadiya Kuzmychova, the largest number of remote students is observed in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Despite the challenges of wartime, the educational network continues to develop. Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi reported that 56 relocated schools are already operating in the country.

“Today, 4 relocated schools from Donetsk region are opening their doors for children in new cities. In total, 56 relocated schools across the country means that children remain in their school community,”
he emphasized.

Safety measures in schools

In addition, the government announced new safety measures. By the end of 2026, the opening of 203 additional shelters in educational institutions is planned, Yulia Svyrydenko reported.

The new school year in Ukraine started with a large number of students returning to schools. In total, 10% of students are studying remotely, which requires additional measures to ensure quality education. The government is actively working on safety issues in educational institutions, striving to create safe conditions for learning and development for students and teachers.
