Ukrainians informed about possible price increase of bread before the holidays
A scientist at the Institute of Agrarian Economics, Svitlana Cheremisina, reported about the expected increase in bread prices before the New Year and Christmas. She predicts that the price of bread and bakery products may rise by 3-5%.
Since the beginning of 2024, prices for bread and bakery products have noticeably increased. The main raw material components for their production have also become more expensive. For example, the price of flour increased by 2.8% and now stands at 18.66 hryvnias per kilogram, while sunflower oil rose by 3.3% and costs 65.02 hryvnias per kilogram. Only sugar has decreased in price by 4.4% and now costs 33.55 hryvnias per kilogram.
It is forecasted that during December, essential goods may become more expensive by 3-5%. For instance, the price of premium wheat bread will rise by 13.2% and cost 49.90 hryvnias per kilogram, while first-grade bread will increase by 14.2% to 40.81 hryvnias. Rye bread will rise by 14.1% and cost 42.67 hryvnias per kilogram, and a loaf will become more expensive by 14.0% and will cost 26.26 hryvnias for 500 grams.
Therefore, scientists predict a gradual increase in the average price of bakery products. It is recommended to stock up on products in advance to avoid unexpected expenses.
