He had stopped to wait for help after his leg swelled up, leaving him unable to continue moving. According to Vitaliy Hlahola, the man stayed on the mountain in the hope that assistance would arrive.

The hiker was lightly dressed, wearing only sneakers and lacking essential gear — a factor that likely made survival much harder in the harsh conditions. Authorities plan to bring his body down to the base of the mountain. This tragedy underscores how critical proper equipment and preparation are for anyone heading into mountainous terrain.
