Ukrainian airline launched direct flights between Chisinau and Barcelona.
The Ukrainian airline SkyUp Airlines operated its first direct regular flight from Chisinau to Barcelona on April 23, 2025. The plane landed at Barcelona airport, marking the beginning of a new stage in air transport.
The General Consulate of Ukraine in Barcelona welcomed SkyUp's decision to expand its flight network and connect Chisinau to major cities of the Ukrainian diaspora in Spain. The largest Ukrainian community in Spain resides in the Valencian Community and Catalonia, so the establishment of regular air connections from Chisinau is significant for both Ukrainians and Spaniards.
Consulate representatives noted that it is a great honor to see the Ukrainian flag on board SkyUp's aircraft and in Palma de Mallorca, which is a global tourist magnet.
This new route also opens up opportunities for Spanish tourists, who have convenient access to Eastern Europe, as well as for businesses that gain new collaboration possibilities. Spaniards can also use this route to visit the southern regions of Ukraine.
Consulate representatives mentioned that they are working towards victory and eagerly await flights from Kyiv and other airports in Ukraine.
Recall that on April 9, a nationwide strike took place in Greece, which led to the cancellation of flights and partial operation of public transport.
