Ukrainian Flamingos struck FSB base in Crimea: checkpoint and six boats destroyed.
According to inkorr.com: In temporarily occupied Crimea, Ukrainian 'Flamingo' missiles hit Russian military facilities. Among them was a border guard base managed by the Federal Security Service of Russia. This information was provided by 'Glavkom', citing 'Militarny'.
Strike on the border guard base
According to reports, the strikes were aimed at the border checkpoint and the patrol boat base near Armyansk. It is noted that the 'Flamingo' missiles became the main means of attack, although earlier it was suggested that 'Neptunes' might have been used.
The Telegram channel 'Nikolaevsky Vanek' reported that early in the morning on August 30, three missiles were launched from the Ukrainian coast, none of which were intercepted by the Russians.
Consequences of the strike
Satellite images show that the main building of the checkpoint was completely destroyed, and the surrounding area looks like burned ruins. Russian media reported damage to six air-cushion patrol boats and revealed information about the death of one serviceman.
Technical specifications of the 'Flamingo' missile
Recall that new long-range cruise missiles 'Flamingo', capable of striking targets at a distance of over 3000 kilometers, were previously presented. Their serial production started on August 14, with plans to produce up to 50 units per month. It is known that 'Flamingo' is twice as powerful as Tomahawk. Key specifications include:
- range - up to 3000 km;
- air time - over 4 hours;
- maximum speed - up to 950 km/h;
- cruising speed - 850-900 km/h;
- wingspan - up to 6 meters.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that mass production of 'Flamingo' will begin between December and February and reported successful tests of this missile.
Thus, Ukrainian 'Flamingo' missiles demonstrated their effectiveness by hitting Russian military facilities in Crimea. These events highlight the significance of modern weapons in the context of armed conflict, as well as Ukraine's advancement in defense technologies. The increase in production and implementation of new weapon systems may affect the further course of hostilities.
