Increased geomagnetic activity in Ukraine

According to ТСН: At the beginning of December, an increase in geomagnetic activity is expected, which may affect people's well-being and the functioning of technology. The strongest disturbances are predicted in the middle of the week, therefore, weather-sensitive individuals and those with chronic diseases should be cautious.

According to space observations, from December 1 to 5, both moderate and strong geomagnetic fluctuations are possible.

  • December 1, Monday — moderate activity, Kp-4

  • December 2, Tuesday — activity will increase, by evening Kp-5 is expected

  • December 3, Wednesday — magnetic storm level G1 (Kp 5–6)

  • December 4, Thursday — storm level G1, most noticeable for weather-sensitive people

  • December 5, Friday — decrease to moderate activity

The geomagnetic storm is caused by a powerful flow of charged particles from the Sun, which interact with the Earth's magnetosphere. This causes disturbances that can affect people's well-being and the operation of technology.

The level of activity is determined using the Kp scale:

  • Kp 3–4 — moderate activity, minor discomfort possible

  • Kp 5–7 — strong disturbances that affect technology and the body

During significant geomagnetic fluctuations, disruptions in GPS and satellite systems, as well as failures in radio communication and navigation, or voltage fluctuations in electrical networks, may occur.

Even moderate activity can cause:

  • headaches and migraines

  • dizziness

  • drowsiness

  • fatigue and decreased concentration

  • mood swings

Doctors recommend resting more on such days, avoiding stress, drinking enough water, and not overexerting physically.

Weather forecast for December

Meteorologists promise an abnormally warm beginning of December in Ukraine. The first days of winter will be predominantly warm: during the day, temperatures will fluctuate between +4 and +7 degrees, while at night there may be slight frosts.

In the south, thermometers may show up to +12 degrees. From December 5, a drop in temperature to -7 degrees is expected in the north and east, while the west will remain warm, up to +7 degrees. The weather will be changeable throughout the entire week.

The increased geomagnetic activity expected in Ukraine may affect many people, especially those who feel changes in their well-being during magnetic storms. Combined with a cozy, albeit warm, winter beginning, this could create a unique atmosphere for the start of the year. It is advisable to keep an eye on weather forecasts to be prepared for changes both in nature and in physical condition.
