Ukraine's Postal Service to Launch App-Based Parcel Tracking and Equip Carriers with Handheld Computers.
New Services from Ukrposhta
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's national postal service, Ukrposhta, is set to enhance its customer offerings by introducing new features in its mobile app and providing its mail carriers with handheld computers. CEO Ihor Smilianskyi announced the company's plans to improve its service. Specifically, the mobile app will gain the ability to manage and pay for parcels, with this functionality expected by the end of February.
Furthermore, by the end of summer, all postal carriers will be equipped with 'three-in-one' mini-computers that function as POS terminals. Smilianskyi stated that these devices have already been purchased and that software refinement is currently underway. They can operate for up to 8 hours without a grid connection and will be recharged using power banks.
Operational Costs and New Delivery Rules
The CEO also highlighted the operational costs associated with charging the devices, noting that a fuel-powered generator consumes 15,000 hryvnias per month. In addition, Ukrposhta has implemented new rules for international deliveries:
- Parcels not collected abroad will be automatically returned to the sender in Ukraine at no extra charge.
"It will be exactly like at Nova Poshta," - Ihor Smilianskyi.
These innovations signal Ukrposhta's strategic focus on improving service and boosting its competitiveness within Ukraine's logistics market. This modernization drive is a significant step for a state-owned enterprise in a sector increasingly dominated by private firms. Faced with growing competition from companies like Nova Poshta, investments in technological solutions and new services aim to attract new customers and increase satisfaction among existing ones. The adoption of modern technology also aligns with global trends in delivery services, where user convenience is a key factor for success.
