The government allowed parents to take the child into their family before adoption.
The government of Ukraine, at the initiative of the Ministry of Social Policy, has decided to implement guardianship before adoption. This new initiative will allow prospective adoptive parents to take the child into their home until the court decision is made. This was reported by the ministry's press service.
Guardianship before adoption will be in effect until the final court decision on adoption is made. After that, the child will be transferred to the custody of the new family as a daughter or son.
Content of the resolution
The decision on guardianship before adoption will be valid for three months and can be extended until the court ruling on adoption. If the candidates do not apply to the court within three months, the guardianship will be canceled, and they will be removed from the list of adoptive parents.
In addition, the government plans to increase payments to children under guardianship. Also, a digital medical certificate has been introduced in Ukraine for those wishing to adopt a child. This is one of the steps toward simplifying the adoption process in the country.
