New Licensing Framework for Defense Technologies Announced

According to Novyny.live: The government has approved a fresh set of regulations for licensing defense technologies created by military personnel, allowing them to receive additional payments for their innovations. The Ministry of Defense proposed this framework, aiming to establish a fair reward system for the developers of these technologies.

Under the updated rules, creators of military technologies will be entitled to at least 25% of the revenue generated from licensing fees. These funds will be allocated to:

  • supporting the units where new technologies originate;
  • developing new solutions for the front lines;
  • protecting intellectual property rights.
'This new mechanism creates a fair compensation system for military personnel and establishes competitive rules for working with state-developed technologies.' Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation

The approach is designed to accelerate the scaling of the most effective solutions being developed during wartime. Fedorov highlighted the significance of these innovations:

'Ukraine is creating unique technologies directly amid the war. Our goal is to quickly scale the best solutions for the front and fairly reward their creators.' Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation

As a result, the new licensing framework will open up additional opportunities for military engineers and improve conditions for further advancements in the defense sector.

This move underscores Ukraine’s commitment to fostering innovation during the conflict and supporting its military engineers. It not only encourages the development of new technologies but also ensures that those working on them receive proper compensation. Such initiatives could ultimately strengthen the country's defense capabilities, which is critically important given today's challenges.
