The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the State Target Program for the Just Transformation of Coal Regions of Ukraine until 2030. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the opening of the program for coal regions and communities Power4JustTransition.
The program covers activities in 38 communities related to coal mining and heat generators, and has four key areas: supporting the local economy, developing decentralized and diversified energy, human capital, and environmental sustainability.
'With the support of the German government, a three-year project for structural changes in the coal regions of Ukraine was initiated in 2021. Within this project, Ukraine received thousands of units of technical equipment from Germany and other countries to eliminate the consequences of Russian shelling,' Shmyhal said.
