New Fuel Cashback Initiative

According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new fuel cashback program set to run from March 20 to May 1, 2026. The initiative offers partial compensation on fuel expenses, aiming to ease the financial burden on citizens as fuel prices continue to climb. This program is part of broader efforts to cushion the impact of rising energy costs on households.

How Much Will You Get Back?

Under the plan, compensation rates vary by fuel type:

  • 15% for diesel;
  • 10% for gasoline;
  • 5% for autogas (LPG).

Individual payouts are capped at 1,000 hryvnias per person per month, with an overall monthly limit of 3,000 hryvnias under the broader 'National Cashback' program.

How the Program Works

Designed to support the population amid surging fuel prices, the cashback scheme was confirmed by Deputy Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. She described it as an additional support tool responding to the current price hikes.

What Can the Cashback Be Used For?

Recipients can use the rebate to pay for fuel, which the government believes will help alleviate financial strain during these challenging economic times. Notably, on March 18, average prices for all major fuel types in Ukraine increased, underscoring the timeliness of this compensation program.

In summary, the fuel cashback initiative represents a key step in supporting citizens facing rising fuel costs.

The launch of this program highlights the Ukrainian government's efforts to combat the economic difficulties arising from higher fuel prices. For those dependent on personal vehicles in daily life, this initiative could be a vital tool, as the partial cost compensation aims to reduce financial pressure. Given the volatility in global energy markets, such support may prove essential for many Ukrainians.
