All Possible Ways: GUR Summarized the Year - Best Operations, Threats of 'Oreshnik', Long-Range Drones, Assad's Downfall.
Andriy Yusov, a representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, spoke about the results of the intelligence agency's work in 2024.
As reported by 'Hvylya', he announced this during a live broadcast on Novyny.Live.
According to Yusov, Ukrainian intelligence agencies successfully carried out active work throughout 2024 to weaken the enemy. The success of operations and the exchange of prisoners are a confirmation of this.
He emphasized that the head of the GUR, Kyrylo Budanov, clearly defined the strategy of inflicting maximum damage on the adversary through asymmetrical warfare.
'This task of the Main Intelligence Directorate was successfully carried out throughout the year, in collaboration with special units and the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine,' Yusov said.
One of the important operations was the destruction of part of the Russian Black Sea naval fleet. It was carried out by the GUR Group 13 special unit using maritime drones Magura V5. This helped ensure the security of grain corridors and Ukrainian ports.
Other important operations and results of the GUR included:
- liberation of the Vovchanska Aggregate Plant;
- destruction of Russian strategic aircraft A50 and Tu-22M3 in cooperation with the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- satellite and agent intelligence;
- joint work with the Coordination Headquarters on handling prisoners of war.
During the full-scale invasion of Russia, there were 48 prisoner exchanges, 10 of which took place in 2024.
'We still have many citizens to bring back. This is a complicated process due to the enemy's disregard for international law. Ukrainian long-range drones can operate at a distance of up to 2000 km. Incidents in Russia are exclusively related to military objects and military infrastructure,' Yusov explained.
He also stated that Russia has about 1400 missiles of various types, many of which have foreign components. This information can be found on the 'War and Sanctions' portal. Ukraine and its partners are working to strengthen sanctions policies and ensure their enforcement.
'Information campaigns against Ukraine and the West regarding the 'cedar/oreshnik/rubizh' missile are a threat. Russian intelligence services are trying to prevent North Korean military personnel from being captured. The difficult work of weakening Russia's alliances continues,' Yusov explained.
He highlighted that the overthrow of Assad's regime in Syria is a defeat for Putin. It resulted in significant losses, both material and reputational. Russia has suffered losses at its bases in Khmeimim and Tartus.
According to Yusov, the number of Russian soldiers in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is about 600 thousand.
'Enemy recruiting and mobilization measures are aimed at replenishing losses. The Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces successfully resist them,' he added.
As a reminder, Fico had a hysterical outburst over Russian gas and threatened to leave Ukraine without electricity.
