Contaminated water in Indore: 10 dead due to sewage in the cleanest city.
Outbreak of illness in Indore
According to ТСН: In the city of Indore, which has been considered the 'cleanest' in India in recent years, at least 10 people have died as a result of consuming contaminated drinking water.
At least 10 people have died and over 200 have been hospitalized in central India's Indore after an outbreak of diarrhea which, according to officials, occurred due to contaminated drinking water.
Among the deceased is a 5-month-old boy who was fed cow's milk mixed with tap water.
The chief doctor of Indore, Madhav Prasad Hasani, reported that the drinking water in the Bhagirathpur area was contaminated due to a leak, and tests showed the presence of bacteria in the pipeline.
Shravan Verma, an administrative official of the district, noted that authorities have sent teams of doctors to visit patients door-to-door and are distributing chlorine tablets for water purification.
'We found one leak that could have contaminated the water, and this has been fixed,' Verma said.
It is worth noting that recently, 23 people died in a nightclub fire in the Indian state of Goa.
This outbreak of illness in Indore highlights serious issues with water quality in a country that has long struggled with drinking water that does not meet safety standards. Authorities are urging the public to be cautious and avoid using tap water for drinking or cooking, especially in such crisis situations.
