Odesa celebrated Independence Day with a motorcade and a 34-meter flag.
According to FREEДOM: Today, Odesa is celebrating Ukraine's Independence Day with a grand celebration in the city center. Local residents unveiled a huge Ukrainian flag and held a motorcade in honor of the holiday. This was reported by FREEDOM TV correspondent Ksenia Sytynska.
The community flag, 34 meters long, was displayed on the Potemkin Stairs. Its length precisely corresponds to the age of the Ukrainian state since the declaration of independence.
'Freedom, free thoughts, and Ukraine. For a displaced person from Kherson, independence is very important,' notes Halyna.
According to a displaced person from Kherson, Serhiy, in the context of the war with the Russian Federation, the meaning of independence is felt much stronger.
'For me, independence means when we are free, Ukraine is free. Independent from all countries. We must develop and thrive. We were abroad, we returned. We thought the war would end. But it has been going on for 3.5 years since we arrived. We lived in the Netherlands, but it was tough, and liquid is liquid,' the man recounts.
Participants in the event are confident that the war will end with Ukraine's victory.
'Independence is what we are fighting for now. Language, history - that is independence. The history of our people, the history of Ukraine,' emphasizes Odesa resident Maia.
Let us remind you, Ukraine is receiving congratulations on Independence Day from world leaders. President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a letter from the White House head Donald Trump on social media.
