Pregnant Servicewomen Granted Paid Leave from 30th Week: Details on Benefits.
Maternity Leave for Military Personnel
According to Novyny.live: Female members of the military who are expecting a child are now entitled to fully paid leave starting from the 30th week of pregnancy. This policy is designed to support women in the armed forces during this significant life event, aligning military service with modern family needs.
The maternity leave provision grants 70 days prior to the expected delivery date, followed by 56 days after childbirth. In cases involving complications or the birth of multiple children, the postnatal leave can be extended to 70 days. Under the new regulations, the financial assistance provided to pregnant servicewomen equals 100% of their regular salary. This ensures greater stability for expectant mothers while they continue their service.
Advantages of the New Policy
Furthermore, the period of this leave is counted towards years of service for rank promotion, which can positively influence the career progression of women in the military. It is also important to note that pregnant service personnel are exempt from military drills and exercises, allowing them to focus on their health and preparation for motherhood. Women with medical or pharmaceutical qualifications are still required to register for military service, in accordance with existing legislation.
These new rules for pregnant servicewomen therefore provide essential support and protection during this crucial period in their lives.
These legislative changes reflect the state's efforts to support women in military roles, representing a significant step towards ensuring gender equality and social protection. Offering leave with full salary retention and service credit may also encourage more women to pursue a military career, which could positively impact the overall personnel capacity of the Armed Forces. Such investments in servicewomen underscore the importance of their contribution to national defense.
