You will only make things worse — do not say these phrases to the wife of a defender.
What not to say to a military wife
'Why did he go there?'
This phrase devalues the soldier and shows your disdain for his choice. War exacerbates emotions and feelings. And while for someone not connected to the front such words might not matter, for the wife of a soldier, hearing this will be painful.
'How could you let him go to war?'
This is perhaps the worst question to ask a woman waiting for her husband to return from war, but not everyone understands this. Often even close ones can hurt a person with such a phrase, emphasizing that they would never have done so. Each person's personal choice should be respected, so it is better to keep such thoughts to oneself.
'Everything will be fine, pull yourself together'
It seems that this phrase should help, but it works quite the opposite. Such words only devalue the woman's feelings, so it is not worth advising her to 'get a grip'. Emotions need to be released, and one should not force the military wife to suppress them.
'My husband cannot kill, so he does not serve'
No one is born for war or to kill. Such words will only hurt the wife of a warrior, so it is better not to say them. Defenders who risk their lives at the front every day also want to live in peace and tranquility. They bravely defend their homeland and wait daily for the time when they can return to their families. We remind you that earlier we wrote about how to speak correctly with soldiers returning from the front. We also talked about whether to discuss relationship problems with a husband if he is at war.
