According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian actor Oleksiy Hnatkovsky has detailed his surprising journey from a career in political science to one on the stage. His path to the Ivano-Frankivsk Drama Theatre began entirely by chance, initiated by a friend's invitation. Hnatkovsky is formally educated as a political scientist, a field where he also met his future wife as they were classmates. For one year, he additionally worked as a reporter, filming news segments for a television channel in Ivano-Frankivsk.
“I never even thought about the theater. I thought about becoming president! But the thing is, playing a president and being a president are completely different things,” remarked Oleksiy Hnatkovsky.
His theatrical roots, however, trace back to childhood memories of performing folk dances. “I ended up in the theater by accident. A friend said they needed some guys (for background dancing in a theater production),” the actor added. This shift from politics to the arts highlights how career paths in Ukraine can take unexpected turns, especially within the country's vibrant cultural scene.
