Klitschko on vacation: Kyiv Defense Council did not meet due to blocked decisions

Recently scheduled meeting of the Kyiv Defense Council did not take place because the city mayor Vitali Klitschko was on vacation. According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, this led to some important issues remaining unresolved, namely the consideration of the resolution to include the heads of regional state administrations into the council.

Timur Tkachenko emphasized that such a situation hinders local work on issues related to infrastructure restoration, shelters, and other organizational matters of the capital's defense sector. He believes that such delays in the work of the Defense Council are harmful and may worsen the security situation in the city.

'I consider such delays harmful. It is unfortunate that the current system of the Defense Council, which has two co-chairs, jeopardizes the functioning of this body. Consciously or unconsciously, this attitude is not beneficial for the capital's security,' said Timur Tkachenko.

Additionally, the Kyiv Deputy Mayor Prokopiv was given a preventive measure changed to night house arrest, due to suspicion of organizing a tax evasion scheme and other anti-corruption violations.

It is reported that due to the vacation of the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, the meeting of the city's Defense Council did not take place, leading to delays in resolving important issues in the field of security and defense of the capital. Information about changes in preventive measures for the deputy mayor of Kyiv, resulting from his participation in anti-corruption investigations, was also provided.
