Issues with Deferment Status in the 'Reserve+' App

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian citizens liable for military service are encountering a problem where their deferments are not updating correctly in the 'Reserve+' application. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has clarified that this failure to refresh information stems from insufficient or outdated data in state registries. This is causing significant concern, as 90% of deferments are supposed to be extended automatically. The 'Reserve+' app is a key digital tool for managing military registration in Ukraine.

The verification of grounds for deferment is conducted through state registries. However, if a notification of extension has not been received, the Ministry of Defense advises individuals to personally apply with supporting documents to any convenient Administrative Services Center. It is crucial to note that Territorial Recruitment Centers (TCCs) no longer accept such applications, a policy change that may complicate the process of securing a deferment.

Simplified Process for Those Released from Captivity

In a separate development, Ukrainians released from captivity can obtain a mobilization deferment through a simplified procedure. This new measure is designed to ease administrative burdens for those who have endured significant hardship during their service.

The situation with the 'Reserve+' app highlights the critical importance of maintaining up-to-date state registries to protect the rights of those eligible for deferment. Problems with the automatic extension system can lead to legal uncertainties and added stress for affected individuals. While involving Administrative Services Centers may help resolve specific cases, the shift away from TCCs for these applications could create new access challenges.
