According to ТСН: The war in Ukraine is increasingly taking on the features of a global conflict, both in terms of its impact and its consequences. This was stated by Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi in his column.

The war becomes global

Zaluzhnyi emphasized that:

"As of the end of 2025, the war in Ukraine will have lasted for twelve years. And with absolute certainty, it can be said that it increasingly has the characteristics of a global conflict. Yes, in terms of casualties, it has not yet reached global levels, but in terms of global influence and consequences, it is already about to launch its dangerous account."

The ambassador also cited an example when "supposedly strong personalities of the modern world claimed about possible quick solutions and the long-awaited peace." He added that peace:

"has not yet arrived."

The goal of the war

Zaluzhnyi stressed that the military command's task is to destroy the enemy's combat forces, while the goal of the war is to achieve peace on favorable terms. As he noted:

"War is not an end in itself conducted solely by the military, but is fought in order to achieve peace under certain favorable conditions."

The importance of attacks on various fronts was also emphasized by him, particularly in the context of

"war of attrition."

Political and economic aspects

Zaluzhnyi emphasized that changes in the course of the war require corresponding changes on the political and economic fronts. He mentioned Clausewitz's postulates about the trinity: the population, armed forces, and civil government. In his opinion,

"The population is the most sensitive party in terms of supporting the war."

He also noted that without public support, it is impossible to conduct a successful war, and recalled one of Clausewitz's main tenets:

"War is subject to changes, and these changes occur in accordance with changes in politics."

Ukraine's strategic goals

According to Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine's political goal in the coming years should include strategic defense and preservation of the state through maintaining all fronts, as well as creating alliances to limit Russia's capabilities for war.

In his opinion, a clear definition of the political goal is important for all aspects of the war, including military, political, and economic. He believes that

"the assessment of the war's prospects should form a unified goal that unites the military, political, and economic fronts."

Peace negotiations

A meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with the American side is scheduled soon in the USA to discuss a plan for ending the war in Ukraine. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved the updated composition of the delegation, headed by National Security Secretary Rustem Umerov.

Previously, the Ukrainian negotiating group was led by Andrii Yermak, but he was recently dismissed following searches at his home.

These events underscore not only the duration of the conflict but also the importance of international cooperation in resolving it. The future of Ukraine, as well as global stability, depends on the presence of unity and a clear strategy.
