Military Registration in Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, military registration is a personal obligation for citizens, who are typically required to appear in person at Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs). However, new regulations now allow certain citizens to register remotely via the 'Reserve+' application. This system is managed by the structures of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specifically the Territorial Recruitment Centers. This digital initiative is part of a broader modernization of the country's mobilization processes.

Male citizens are required to be on the military register from the age of 17. The online registration option is available only to those doing so for the first time. For citizens aged 17 to 24, registration confers the status of 'Conscript,' while men aged 25 to 59 receive the status of 'Person Liable for Military Service.'

Yevhen Oleksandrovych noted: 'Registration for military service no longer requires a personal visit to the TRC. It can be done in the 'Reserve+' app with just a few clicks, even from abroad.'

However, those who have been removed from the register, as well as women, must still apply in person at a TRC. 'Online registration is available only to those doing it for the first time,' he added.

Upon successful completion of the process in the app, the user receives their Reserve ID with a status of either 'Conscript' or 'Person Liable for Military Service.'

Andrii Karpenko stated: 'After successful registration in the app, your Reserve ID will appear with the status 'Conscript' for citizens aged 17–24 or 'Person Liable for Military Service' for men aged 25–59.'

From March 1, 2026, Ukraine will transition to a stricter administration of military registration. This indicates that citizens should be prepared for upcoming changes to the rules and procedures governing military service obligations.

Steps for Remote Registration

The steps for remote military registration include:

  • installing the 'Reserve+' app or updating it to the latest version;
  • authorizing within the application;
  • selecting the 'Register for Service' function;
  • waiting for the automatic processing of the request.

The introduction of remote registration via the 'Reserve+' app significantly simplifies the procedure for young people, especially for those residing abroad. This move is designed to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and facilitate the fulfillment of military duty. At the same time, the planned changes to registration administration from 2026 may signal the state's intent to strengthen oversight of military obligations, requiring citizens to stay attentive and prepared for new regulations.
