In Vyshgorod, after four days of blackout, electricity was restored: how the city prepares for the New Year.
According to ТСН: Vyshgorod in Kyiv region is recovering after a large-scale attack and nearly 4 days of blackout. Currently, electricity has been returned to most homes. Local residents are happy as it will allow them to celebrate the New Year with light.
What residents say
Vyshgorod residents are becoming more optimistic — the light has returned. For the city, this is a true holiday. Some residents experienced a drop in temperature in their homes to 15-16 degrees, and there were also problems with water supply.
The authorities urge residents to enjoy the new opportunity but warn against using a large number of electrical appliances simultaneously.
“They gave us light, but warned us not to turn on appliances that consume a lot of energy. We are not turning on the boiler yet. We keep the stove and washing machines off to avoid unforeseen situations. We are waiting for everything to stabilize. We need to do laundry, heat food… There are many moments,” shared a resident of Vyshgorod.
The local government's comment confirmed the stability of the situation.
“The whole city has heat, water, and heating. There are only two houses that have not yet received electricity. But we hope that this will be resolved by noon. All boiler houses are operating normally,” said Igor Svystun, Deputy Mayor of Vyshgorod.
The residents of Vyshgorod have already adapted to the new realities.
“It seems that if we were given light for 2 hours to charge everything, we could hold out for another two days without it. It is very comforting that on the 31st we have lights, we can set the tables. We feel like the whole of Ukraine, even for a moment normally. It’s not crucial, but nice that we can charge our eco-flow and watch the President's New Year address,” shared Yelyzaveta.
Residents express heartfelt gratitude for the energy workers who did their job in difficult conditions.
“Everyone is united, children came calmly. Everyone helped each other. We are grateful that before the holidays we have the opportunity to be together and have light,” concludes Iryna from Vyshgorod.
Earlier, it was reported that electricity supply has been restored in Vyshgorod. According to DTEK, energy workers have provided power to more than 9 thousand families.
“The enemy severely damaged the substation. Work continued for 4 days without stopping, day and night,” the company reported.
Vyshgorod is currently restoring not only electricity supply but also the spirit of unity and support among residents. Preparations for the holidays, despite the circumstances, continue. Last year's difficulties have made this situation even more valuable for residents, who can now celebrate the New Year together with hope for the better.
