President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy started his trip to the United States of America by visiting the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, which manufactures components for artillery and mortar shells.
According to the Office of the President, the plant is fully loaded to meet the needs of Ukraine, in particular, the production of 155 mm caliber shells, the volume of which has significantly increased over the past year.
The head of state visited the plant and held a meeting with the management and employees of the enterprise.
The President spoke about the situation on the battlefield and emphasized the need for uninterrupted and timely delivery of declared defense support packages for Ukraine.
"It is an honor for us to start the visit to the United States of America from Scranton, from this plant located in Pennsylvania. We are very grateful for such partners. We understand that the USA has supported us since the beginning of the conflict. And we count on further support. We thank President Biden, the US Congress, and all the workers of similar plants," Zelensky emphasized.
The meeting also concerned the issue of starting joint weapons production on the territory of Ukraine, as well as the possibility of American investments in the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.
The President noted that production is already growing at this and other American plants, and capacities are constantly increasing.
"There are 400 people working here. I was very interested in coming here and thanking you. These 400 people are saving millions of Ukrainians. I am very grateful to you on behalf of myself and the entire nation. You are helping us to resist Russian aggression," the head of state noted, addressing the plant workers.
