The researcher of the Holodomor Anatoliy Penyok has passed away: what is known about his case.
Death of the Holodomor Researcher
According to inkorr.com: Information about the death of Holodomor researcher Anatoliy Penyok appeared thanks to a publication by the head of the Freedom party and former people's deputy Oleg Tyagnibok. He shared this news in his post, quoting 'Glavkom'.
Penyok began actively working in the 'Freedom' community in the early 2000s, dealing with issues of national memory, youth education, and preserving historical truth. His activities contributed to the restoration of historical justice, culminating in the installation of a memorial plaque on the building of the former Infants' Home in Zaporizhia.
In 2006, after reading a small newspaper note about 35 children who died in the Zaporizhia Infants' Home in May 1933, Anatoliy could not remain indifferent...
For his work, Penyok received the Order 'For Merit to Zaporizhia Region' of the III degree. His research became the basis for the documentary film 'The Infants' Home. The Last Lullaby'.
Anatoliy's friend describes him as a person with a capital letter - quiet, modest, but stubborn and consistent. He left behind not only memories and deeds but also an example of how to serve the Motherland - not with words, but with actions, Tyagnibok added.
Loss in the East
It was also noted the death of one of the most significant commanders on the eastern front - Oleg Kutsin, founder and leader of the 'Freedom Legion' and the 'Carpathian Sich' battalion.
Anatoliy Penyok was an important figure in the establishment of the memorial plaque on the former Infants' Home in Zaporizhia. His contribution to the research of the Holodomor will remain in the memory of many, as will his efforts in serving the Motherland. Leaving a bright mark in people's memories, Penyok will continue to inspire new generations to preserve historical heritage.
